The Sandbox Revisited

Ok so the site I blogged about a long time ago that was in the google sandbox came out a while ago. I figured I would let you all know and see. It only took like 9 month, which is one of the longer sandbox runs I’ve ever heard of. I’m now #1 for my main keyword and in the low numbers for a lot of others. Anyway here is the moment we’ve all been waiting for:

Back?

So anyone who has read this blog with the hopes of me building a complete tutorial on setting up a site was sadly disappointed as I haven’t posted here in FOREVER (and yes I know the number of you is very small). I’m going to try to get back at it and at the very least complete my step by step tutorial about building a Wordpress site. I’m far from being in the top echelon of MMO or SEO bloggers, but I think I can offer some solid advice as someone who has read A LOT of stuff on the internet and learned my lessons very quickly.

Anyway I will be posting here to complete my tutorial, and hopefully any of you that continue to read will bring the pressure on me to keep writing. 1 because I need something like this to make me think and 2 because I need somewhere to complain about how maddening the quest for position 1 is by times (a lesson a lot of people learn after 6 months and then give up).

Take all my old posts (before this one) with a grain of salt. I’m going to make an effort to go back through them and check for accuracy, but if in doubt about something I’ve said please leave a comment and I’ll address it.

I am a Joke (Compared to This Guy)

Hey to anyone who stumbles (pun intended) across this blog, or one of the few people who have subscribed to the RSS feed.

First off I’d like to apologize for not updating in forever. I’m hard into exam period and for that reason my time has been severely limited. I finish exams on April 23 and after that I am taking the summer off to work on the net full time. Look for me to get back at writing and finishing my guide to building a site then.

I wanted to make this post to tell everyone something, I am a joke. Can you learn anything here at ScrewYouGoogle? Yeah, sure you can. About a lot of things I know what I’m talking about. I’ve done a lot of reading and watching of the SEO masters Vic, Court, Grizz (In fact Grizz found his way to this site one day, a fact which I am very proud of), and most recently Justin. They are the ones that know what they are talking about, and anything I know is 90% from what they have told me, and the other 10% from doing things completly WRONG.

I wanted to let everyone know, in case anyone with any interest in SEO doesn’t already know, about Vic at BloggerUnleashed. I like to say that Court made me fall in love with SEO, but Vic was the one who slapped me up side the head and showed me how to do it right. Vic teaches people how to Make Money Online and doesn’t spare any words doing so. When you watch your first video I bet you will say to yourself “Man this guy is an ass, but he knows what the hell he’s talking about”, and he no doubt does. Since starting to read Blogger Unleashed my knowledge of SEO has grown ten fold.

Vic made a vlog post the other week that completly rocked my world. He talked about color schemes of blogs and how that can have a great effect on CTR. I thought ok this might be worth a shot and boost me 1 or 2% at best but it has essentially tripled my CTR on some sites. I simply made a black (#000000) background with a gray (#666666) font then put adsense with the same format except blue (#000066) titles. On one site my CTR went from around 5% to 17% in a week, it was ridiculous.

It’s little things like that that Vic teaches you on his site that make all the difference. God willing Vic will drop another piece of knowledge from heaven and I will see the same results again.

Vic’s mentee, Justin (who I somewhat ironically share a name with) just stared a blog called Blogging Zombe about Make Money on the Internet. Every time Vic talks about him he is so proud and I hope some day maybe I will be to the same point. I can’t wait to get back at blogging, and I’m excited to be able to work at it full time this summer.

I hope you keep reading here to get my second hand knowledge, but I insist you keep (or start) reading (watching) Vic at Blogger Unleashed. Don’t be put off by his swearing or occasional rant. If you’re not you might as well be burning your money.

Why Social Networking Friends are Like the 3 Women in My Life

Here are the family members you can treat readers like. Again you need all kinds to make your blog a family community

First of please don’t be offended if I make readers sound like commodities… although realistically I suppose it’s what you are… wow that sounds callas

girlfriend.jpg1. Girlfriend – Complement your readers. Everyone likes to be told how smart they are and your readers are no exception. (PS – I really do think my readers are super smart) Oh and yes… this is my actual girlfriend

grandma.jpg2. Grandmothers – Guilt visitors into doing you a favor. Ever need $50 bucks? —– “Yeah Grammy, I was going to go to the movies tonight, but dad wouldn’t lend me any money”… “Gee thanks Grammy… I just hope one of my friends will share their popcorn with me” —– you get the drift… it’s the same thing as when you are asking readers to send you off to their social networking sites. (And again please do)

mombaby.jpg3. Mom – You know when you need someone to make you feel good… well that’s one great thing that my readers on my various sites do for me. When someone sends you a pile of traffic it really can brighten your day.

Yeah sorry this is a short and shitty post. I have a trial bench (Fake Fake Court) in a couple hours that I need to practice… so ummm… be my mom and make me feel happy

What women in your life is your social networking system like?

My Mission Statement

So here I go on a hopefully long and fruitful journey down a path that will free me of the Google machine. I have many, many, many sites geared towards getting tons of Google traffic, archiving the #1 keyword ranking, and spending countless hours getting links to my sites in hopes of getting a +1 to my page rank next time the G-men (No not the Giants but speaking of which ALL HAIL ELI & SCREW YOU TOM BRADY) decide to do an update. Hopefully they will at least do it correctly next time.

5 Reasons Why I Hate Google:

  1. It takes 5 seconds to get indexed, but 5 months to get a decent ranking
  2. They make arbitrary decisions without warning that hurt site
  3. Nothing ever gets done right the first time (I realize they have a lot to consider, but that’s why they are a billion dollar corporation with thousands of employees)
  4. When I build a site for them to like… they get mad (wow… Google and My Girlfriend… future article?)
  5. They punish the little guy (blogger) while catering to the big guy (advertisers)… can anyone say PayPerPost

Anyway… I considered blocking robots from my site but figured hey, I hate search engines at the current moment, not traffic. So I’ll allow them to spider my site and send their traffic in while I bitch and moan about how annoying they are. I know how it will go… the same way it always goes… the shitty little engines (usually MSN) will love my site and Google will say “good work, I’ll be back in 6 months, and if you’re still working your ass off maybe I’ll send you a few hits”.

So what am I going to spend my time on? I’m going to work to build a navigable site… nay a navigable community… where I will do my best to show a different way to get traffic. Web 2.0 baby! Stumble Upon, Digg, BlogCatalog… they will all be my friends; however, my #1 goal will be to provide useful information for my readers. I might even try to give a hand with some of you perusing the Google Machine’s blessing.

If you have an idea for the blog let me know. If you like the blog help the community by commenting and submitting it to all your favorite social media sites. If you want to write an article I’m always open to the suggestion.

Anyway subscribe to my feed and I’ll do my best not to let you down.

Until tomorrow continue to fight the Google machine
