And thus the inexorable spread of the GOOG continues: "All Your Informations Belong To Us".

I suppose their popularity helps shield them from accusations of being a near-monopoly.

Their Search is great but I'm dubious about the latest book-scanning initiative; it's a bit cheeky.

The site isn't optimized for SEO on account of me not keyword stuffing, actively getting backlinks, or really doing anything besides writing what I feel like... it's hard to explain how you're NOT doing something... Go read Vic's Blogger Unleashed, Courtney Tuttle's Internet Marketing School, or Grizz's Make Money Online for Beginners and SEO will become a lot clearer.

Web 2.0 is basiclly friend generate traffic. Things like StumbleUpon, Digg, Sphinn, or one of the services you can see at the bottom of the page.

This site hasn't been around long enough to get a PR but I doubt it will ever get any. Thanks for stopping by

So in what way isn't your site optimized for search traffic? Somehow I'm missing things. What is Web 2.0? Here comes another search I guess. I'm not up to date on understanding this SEO stuff although I try. So google must have dumped your pr, right? Funny thing about them. I had a site I couldn't get into for years and yet it had a pr of 4! Go figure. Soon as I got in, the pr disappeared. I don't understand it.

Blue Licorice's last blog post..Radar Guns Help Sports Speeds Increase

Ha ha yes you probably are... I'm really just now getting used to entrecard myself but it is cool...

Yeah I know this blog is pretty poorly optimized and you hit the nail on the head... I debate back and fourth if I do want to optimize it or not... so I may in the future... for now it's just my place to come and write what I feel like without worrying about doing the SEO myself

DaMan, I may be the only person on entrecard that actually uses it just to find blogs and then "read" them. What a concept. lol

I gathered from your post that you understand the value of Google and were venting more from frustration with them than anything else. SEO can be frustrating and a monster to master but it is possible as my "free and ugly" blogspot blogs demonstrate.

You probably realize that this blog is not very well optimized for search traffic but I don't think you are overly concerned - sometimes it's just fun to have a social site and let off steam. I must admit that I have thought of doing it myself.

If you ever need a hand let me know and I appreciate you taking my comments as constructive - a rare thing these days.

All the best.

Hey Grizz,

First off I'm a big fan and love your blog... I'm amazed you even found your way here so I must be doing SOMETHING right

Secondly in retrospect this mission statement was a "little" harsh... Google can be a bully for sure but they probably aren't evil

Finally I've been strongly contemplating writing "A New Mission Statement" as this one doesn't really fit with where I want this blog to go... one of these days I'll get around to it... currently (if you read some of my more recent posts) I'm working on a website creation guide that will be fairly SEO orientated

Thanks,
DaMan

Oh and PS I had someone ask about using blogger platforms for niche blogs on another one of my posts and planned (and still do plan) on referring to your blog with that one

When you're searching for something aren't you glad Google is around. They are pretty good at finding the right info that you need - compare their results to the other engines.

Would people be happy if they allowed all the spam sites and splogs to rank high in the serp's?

Their ability to find the most relevant content is what makes them so huge and it's why they dominate the search engines. Learn proper SEO and take advantage of Google's search traffic and you will make money. Spend time chasing social traffic and you will have a bunch of bloggers on your site not spending money.

Google isn't evil, they don't pick on anyone who follows the rules and they reward people who provide content in the correct format. Payperpost and the folks who used it were gaming the search results - Google was correct in slapping all the sites involved. Not doing so would have allowed crappy sites to rank well simply because they bought more links. Would this have made Google a better search engine?

You can hate Google and many do but they are necessary if you want to earn a living online. All the social traffic in the world won't make you money.
